Job Description

Guide Dogs is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our team on a full time permanent basis. There is also an opportunity for temp/contract if this is more suited to your lifestyle.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Processing pay in compliance with the relevant awards and legislation
  • Ensuring accurate payroll transactions and payments
  • Preparation and payment of all tax obligations including PAYG tax, Superannuation Guarantee contributions
  • Processing new employee's contracts and terminations (from a payroll perspective)
  • Preparation and timely delivery of pay slips and annual payment summaries
  • Liaise with ATO on any issues
  • Processing payroll journals in the Finance System and reconciling certain payroll General Ledger Accounts
  • Answering general payroll enquiries, including payroll system issues, salary packaging queries etc
  • Working closely with HR and Finance departments
  • Analysis of costings against budgets

Essential Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years employment experience in Payroll, ideally managing payroll from start to finish.
  • Knowledge and experience of MicroPay.
  • Knowledge of salary packaging including novated car leases.
  • Ability to analyse and communicate payroll information to all levels of staff including appropriate confidentiality of personnel and payroll related data
  • Advanced Microsoft Office: Excel skills
  • Advanced computer literacy with knowledge of accounting software, electronic / online banking packages and spreadsheet programs.
  • Highly organised - ability to manage multiple tasks and at times conflicting deadlines.
  • Deadline focused
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
